The influence of robotics and the Internet of Things (IoT) in the construction industry is undeniable.

IoT is used to effectively manage an asset at every stage of its life cycle. The major uses of IoT are:

• managing projects when they are in the construction phase
• managing the facility during the in-use phase
• monitoring employees’ safety and productivity on construction sites and maintenance activities
• ensuring machines and tools are working properly, at the right time, in the right places
• avoiding theft attempts by sending alerts when assets leave an assigned location
• getting real-time data.

Robotics applications coupled with IoT help:

• mitigating risks
• alleviating the burden of tedious manual tasks, such as bricklaying
• improving safety by minimizing the risk of injuries
• replacing people who work in hazardous terrains.
